Conversation: Personality


MAIN AIM
By the end of the lesson, students will have revised personality traits vocabulary and used it to talk about their own personality, as well as debated whether people can change their personalities or not.

MATERIALS
White board and markers
Dictionaries

   

STEPS AND ACTIVITIES

BRAINSTORMING
T shows SS the word PERSONALITY and elicits from them what comes to their mind when they see it.

WB + marker or
PPT presentation
LEAD-IN
SS debate questions such as
1. Do you believe personality is related to mystical areas, such as star signs, face shape or palm lines?
2. What are your three greatest personality traits?
3. Does “good personality” exist?


LANGUAGE ANALYSIS
T shows students the words: immature, calm, confident, arrogant, funny, ambitious, boring, creative, messy and persistent.

SS debate whether the words express a positive characteristic or a negative one.

HO: Personality vocabulary and listening activity

Dictionaries
PRE-LISTENING
SS debate on whether people can change their personality, according to their own opinion.


LISTENING
SS watch an interview with Dr. Robert Cloninger about personality changes and answer a true or false activity.

HO: Personality vocabulary and listening activity
WRAP-UP
T calls SS' attention to mistakes related to grammar, vocabulary and/or pronunciation.
